The Sunday Times has revealed its own list of 100 fast-growing businesses in Britain, with nine companies featured being from the south west region.
Of this nine, Jeremy Clarkson's brewery, Hawkstone, comes out on top — beating out businesses in Bristol, Bath, Bournemouth and Dorset.
The brand generated sales of £7.8 million in the year to March 2024, with an annual sales growth reported at 142.88 per cent in the last three years, thereby solidifying its place on the prestigious list.
The research conducted by The Sunday Times business reporters, in partnership with its source of private data, Beauhurst, found that on average the top 100 companies have increased their sales by 118 per cent per year over the last three years, to a combined £2.9 billion in sales.
Business editor at The Sunday Times, Jim Armitage, commented: 'Our politicians talk about how they will deliver economic growth, but it is the graft of entrepreneurs — such as those featured on this year's Sunday Times 100 — who achieve it. Their remarkable resilience in difficult economic conditions shows what is possible with vision and hard work.'
With more than a third of the featured businesses coming from London and the rest spread out to the Midlands, the south east and the north west of England, Hawkstone comes in impressively at number 24.
The brewery launched in 2021 and now has a product range consisting of lagers; ciders — fronted by Kaleb Cooper — real ales; and even its own vodka.
One of Jeremy's many business ventures in Gloucestershire, Hawkstone is made using barley and apples from Diddly Squat Farm — which also has its own farm shop in Chipping Norton — and the brewery itself is located in Bourton-on-the-Water.
