Gloucestershire College is asking local businesses to provide career opportunities for its talented bunch of apprentices, seeking employment and work experience across the county.

Inspiring Gloucestershire employers to ‘Back Local Talent’ through its latest campaign, the college has been inundated with young people looking for vocational opportunities with local organisations during the Covid-19 pandemic.

With over 45 apprenticeship programmes, specialising in everything from HR, marketing, IT and cyber to construction, engineering and hairdressing, Gloucestershire College is home to an enthusiastic cohort of candidates ready to take their first step on to the career ladder.

It offers apprenticeship and traineeship schemes to introduce employers to local talent – as well as acting as an intermediary to help businesses make the most of the government’s new Kickstart Scheme.

A complimentary matching service helps employers find the right recruit for their business, taking care of everything from advertising vacancies to shortlisting candidates.

Taking on an apprentice is a cost-effective way for employers of all sizes to directly address any skills gaps within their organisations, it’s also proven to increase productivity and improve staff retention and motivation.

What’s more, the government is offering incentive payments of up to £3,000 for each new apprentice hired before Sunday 31 January 2021 – with incentive payments of up to £1,000 per trainee, too.
