The owner and CEO of Cotswolds-based workwear firm Penguin Uniform, Jared Wilson, is joining a line-up of big names from the world of business and personal development as he features in an episode of a leading business podcast.
While Jared's story will be well known to SoGlos readers, his journey from retiring as a young professional footballer to growing his own business from the ground up during the Covid-19 pandemic is set to strike a chord on a national scale, too, through his appearance on 'The Business Excellence Podcast'.
Powered by ActionCOACH UK and hosted by experienced sports and business coach James Vincent, the podcast shares the wisdom of some of the world's leading speakers alongside the stories and insights of successful business owners and entrepreneurs.
With his episode set to air in the coming weeks, Jared revealed his nerves — and ultimately pride — at being invited to share his business insights with an audience of more than 50,000 listeners to the podcast.
Recognisable names like money expert Martin Lewis and former Dragon's Den investor Piers Linney have featured in the past — and Jared ran into another famous face as he turned up to the studio, with Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes having just finished sharing her inspirational story with the podcast, too.
Jared said meeting her 'only amplified' his nerves, but that he persevered to share his wisdom and experience in business to the podcast as best he could.
Posting on LinkedIn about the experience, he said: 'As a big listener of the podcast I was genuinely overwhelmed to have the hot seat for an hour, sitting where some business leaders I aspire to be have been!
'I am not sure how I come across — nervous I’m sure — but I anticipate the release of the podcast to a wider audience, I’m really proud of the team I have at Penguin Uniform and will forever be grateful of the support to keep growing!'
Host James Vincent added: 'Superb podcast Jared... nice to see the elite mindset from sport being transferred so well to building a multi-million-pound business.'
