Leading automotive manufacturer G-TEKT Europe Manufacturing Ltd, or G-TEM, has been based at its lead sales and manufacturing site in Brockworth for more than 25 years.

Gloucestershire-based vehicle body manufacturer G-TEM has been named company of the year in a prestigious national awards scheme recognising the leading stars of the UK metal industry.

The firm, which was established in Gloucester in 1996 as part of the global, Japan-based G-TEKT manufacturing corporation, picked up the biggest gong of the night at the Confederation of British Metalforming (CBM) Awards this April 2025.

More than 200 industry leaders gathered to see the Gloucestershire firm claim the top prize at a high-profile gala event at The Council House in Birmingham.

Judges praised G-TEM for its 'significant growth, clear commitment to upskilling, innovation and for playing a critical role in retaining high level auto work within the UK' over the past year, in the face of challenges posed by changes to government policy.

The CBM is the UK's leading trade association for the metal industry, with its annual awards celebrating the successes and achievements of businesses across sectors from aerospace and defence, to automotive and white goods manufacturing.

Headquartered in Brockworth, G-TEM manufactures body structures for prestigious car brands, employing over 800 people across its six locations in Europe.

For the year to March 2023, the company reported turnover of just over £115.3 million — coming in at number 23 on the SoGlos Top 100 Businesses in Gloucestershire 2024.

Geraldine Bolton, CEO of the CBM, said: 'Our sector never ceases to amaze me… the resilience to fight back and achieve world class manufacturing in the face of so many challenges and a fragmented government approach to industry is something else.

'This year has taken it to another level. Our winners, which come from all parts of the metals supply chain, have demonstrated innovation, a strong approach to skills, investment in new technology and a clear route map for achieving sustainable production.'

The top prize is the latest CBM award achieved by G-TEM, with the company winning both Energy Efficiency Initiative of the Year and Health & Safety Initiative of the Year in 2024, too.

Geraldine added of this year's success: 'Huge congratulations to G-TEM, who has defied sector pressures to produce a truly award-winning performance.'
