Gloucester-based charity, The Music Works, is appointing a new CEO, as Deborah Potts steps down after 10 years.
Artistic director and co-founder, Malaki Patterson, who has worked closely alongside Deborah over the last decade will step up to the role from January 2025.
Describing Malaki as 'instrumental in shaping and delivering The Music Works' vision', his progression builds on the strong foundation he has helped to co-create for the charity so far — which includes building state-of-the-art recording studios, launching life-changing education progammes and helping thousands of disadvantaged young people across the county.
Deborah said: 'Working alongside Malaki for the past decade has been incredible. Our complementary skills and approaches have created a partnership that has helped The Music Works grow and evolve in ways I never imagined possible.
'Malaki has been both a fantastic colleague and a good friend throughout this journey and we are delighted he has agreed to stay on and take up this new role. I know his commitment to young people and his leadership skills will take The Music Works to new heights.'
Malaki added: 'Having started my journey at The Music Works over 12 years ago as a co-founder I am proud to be able to celebrate this transition. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Deborah for her visionary leadership, tireless dedication and the lasting impact she has made on both our organisation and the thousands of young people we've supported.
'We are excited about what lies ahead, knowing that our mission to transform young lives through music has never been stronger.'
