What a difference a day makes. With no crowds allowed in sports stadiums and pubs closed, The Heritage Bar next to Gloucester Rugby’s stadium might not have looked like a great investment at the start of the week.
But with Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s announcement that we are on a one-way road to recovery, pubs re-opening in the near future and potentially 10,000 fans in stadiums by mid-May, attitudes are changing fast.
Reg Daldry, who invested £450,000 rescuing the former Discount Cycle Warehouse on Kingsholm Road and transforming it into the sports bar, is hopeful again and has re-listed The Heritage Bar on Rightmove.
‘Here is a great opportunity for somebody to purchase this pub/food premises in a sought-after area. I have other priorities that need my time.
‘When we come out of this pandemic this place will be the place to go. Get in touch to grab a bargain and set you up for life,’ said Mr Daldry, whose day job as managing director of UK Demolition and Construction Ltd. is already busy enough.
The 3,797 square foot bar is on the market for £599,950 (freehold). It was listed pre-pandemic for £700,000.
With the capacity to serve 350 thirsty customers in a pre-Covid-19 world, the spacious bar opened during the Rugby World Cup 2019 and immediately drew the crowds.
Speaking before the pandemic hit, Mr Daldry said The Heritage Bar was making in excess of £10,000 a week and when the kitchens were ready (which they now are) adding tea, coffee and food to the menu, he was confident that figure would easily rise to £15,000 a week.
