In a bid to support the local economy, two of Gloucester's most popular shopping and leisure destinations are accepting the Gloucester Gift Card for the first time this November 2024.
For the first time ever, Gloucester Quays is swapping its own in-store gift card for Gloucester Gift Card, accepting it in its 60 stores and restaurants, including the Cineworld cinema.
Nearby foodie destination Gloucester Food Dock is also accepting the Gloucester Gift Card at all of its independent restaurants, cafes and bars for the first time.
The new partnerships with Gloucester BID — which created the Gloucester Gift Card in 2019 — aim to boost the local economy and support Gloucester-based businesses by driving footfall to the city and encouraging local spending.
Associate marketing director for Gloucester Quays' owner Peel Retail and Leisure, Laura Hopkins, said: 'We took the opportunity to work alongside Gloucester BID and replace our existing gift card with the Gloucester Gift Card. All of our stores and restaurants now accept the Gloucester Gift Card as payment. It gives people the ability to shop the whole of Gloucester with a single gift card.
'People can buy the Gloucester Gift Card online, as either a physical gift card or a digital e-card. It makes it really easy for the customer and really easy for our businesses to accept. Any previous Gloucester Quays gift cards can be exchanged for a new Gloucester Gift Card at the customer service desk.'
Gloucester Food Dock's general manager, Kyla Hyett, added: 'The unique thing about Gloucester Food Dock is that it enables indie businesses to take the first step into a bricks and mortar presence. All of our businesses accept the Gloucester Gift Card — there are no extra costs for them to accept the card and it brings new revenue into their business, it’s just another form of payment.
'Having the Gloucester Gift Card can also encourage people to try something different, and even spend a little more on top of the gift card value. And at Gloucester Food Dock, they could use their card to have a starter, main and pudding at three different businesses. It’s a really good initiative to boost the local economy.'
