Gloucester-based firm Prima Dental is being celebrated for its continued global success this May 2024, earning a King's Awards for Enterprise for International Trade, with around 90 per cent of its impressive annual turnover coming from overseas sales.
The highest official awards for UK businesses, the King's Awards for Enterprise are made by His Majesty The King — on the advice of government and industry leaders — for outstanding achievement in the categories of innovation; international trade; sustainable development; and promoting opportunity through social mobility.
Prima Dental, which manufactures more than 50 million dental burs every year to supply to practices all over the world, has been awarded for its excellent performance overseas in recent years — with £34 million of its £37.6 million annual turnover in 2022 coming from its exports and international commerce.
Forecasts suggest its turnover will grow by more than 33 per cent to £50 million in 2025, boosted by even stronger international trade.
The organisation pioneered the private label and original equipment manufacturing (OEM) of dental burs back in 2000; and today it is the world’s largest supplier of OEM products in the sector.
This year is the third time the company has won the award for international trade, having previously picked up the Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2014 and 2018.
Alun Jones, managing director and CEO of Prima Dental, said: 'I am honoured and thrilled by our company's achievement in winning the esteemed King's Award for Enterprise for International Trade. This recognition serves as a testament to the hard work, skill and dedication of every member of our team.
'We see this award not only as a validation of our past efforts but also as a catalyst for further growth. We are grateful for this recognition and remain steadfast in our pursuit of better for our employees, partners and customers leading to a positive contribution to oral healthcare worldwide.'
