It’s back – the Gloucester 10k run, taking in many of the city’s finer points on a route through the Docks, Quays, canal path and past the Cathedral, is all systems go.
Cancelled last year, like so many other gatherings, the chance to make its comeback has got the organisers excited and the website is open for entries.
‘We are delighted to say that subject to Covid continuing to behave we will be able to hold the Gloucester 10k again this year on 4 July, said Nigel Tillott, of city-based solicitors Davies and Partners, and the architect of the event.
‘There will be a chance to run through the city – or do the race virtually or both.’
With the pandemic on the wane but still with us, the race will be a hybrid of those running the official circuit and those choosing their own routes.
Which allows for an unusual prize – for the best landscape for those ‘virtual’ runners.
Gloucester 10k is staged by the community, steered by Davies and Partners Solicitors and Gloucester Quays Rotary Club, with all proceeds put back into the community.
This year the main charity partner is the Hollie Gazzard Trust, with Winston’s Wish also benefiting.
City construction firm EG Carter is again sponsoring the event.
For businesses and organisations there is a corporate challenge and also an inter running club competition.
