A baking business which moved from the Cotswolds to Cheltenham has increased its monthly production of tasty treats from 700,000 to 925,000 within just 30 days – and it’s forecasting soaring demand, with 2 million baked goods set to be whipped up each month by the end of the year.
Four Anjels, which bakes cookies, cakes, flapjacks, shortbread and brownies for M&S, Pret A Manger and Dunelm, closed its base in Moreton-in-Marsh to move to Furlong Park in Cheltenham in March 2022.
Since then, it’s gone from strength to strength. Creating new jobs in Cheltenham, its 42 Cotswolds employees have been joined by new recruits, boosting staff numbers to 55 in the bakery and 11 in the office.
Managing director, Andrea Stevens, said: ‘The move to Furlong Park marks a key event in the growth of Four Anjels. With this new bakery, we can produce a whole range of new lines for some great brands like M&S, Pret A Manger and Dunelm.
‘Not only can we produce more products, but we can introduce greater innovation to our products with the new space. ‘Free From’ products continue to increase in demand and having a designated pod within the bakery just for this has removed the restrictions we had at the previous site.’
Technical director, Julie Painting, added: ‘Cheltenham is a great town to run a business from. We have had so much support from people helping with the move to recruiting new members of the team. It really helps to be in a location with great networks and business links.’
