Barnwood Construction has been named as the main contractor on the latest development at Hartpury University and Hartpury College.
Vitruvius Management Services, which is leading a series of projects for the college and university, said the Gloucester firm had been appointed to build the new catering hub for the campus.
Vitruvius said the new £5 million building’s ‘forward-thinking design’ was the work of another well-known city firm, Roberts Limbrick Architects.
Mark Price, managing director of Vitruvius Management Services and project lead on the Hartpury scheme, said: ‘I would like to congratulate and welcome Barnwood to the team.’
Russell Marchant, vice-chancellor and principal at the university and college, said: ‘We are thrilled to have signed off local contractors Barnwood to build our new catering hub.
‘This marks a significant part of our strategic plan, to support student growth at Hartpury with a first class, state-of-the-art technology catering hub for the campus.’
Ben Ramsay, managing director of Barnwood, said: ‘We are extremely pleased to be appointed as the main contractor. We look forward to commencing on site in August 2021.’
Planning permission for the project was granted by Forest of Dean District council in October 2020.
Vitruvius said the new 2,347 sqm two-storey building will have ‘sustainable features’, adaptable teaching spaces, a bar and café and provide commercial opportunities for Hartpury to host seminars and conferences too.
