Cirencester College, a dedicated Sixth Form college set in rural Cotswold countryside, has appointed its teacher of 18 years as its new principal and chief executive officer.
With 30 years' experience of working in the education sector, Matt Reynolds has been a member of Cirencester's teaching staff since 2006.
Joining the college as a lecturer of archaeology, Reynolds taught across A levels, vocational and technical courses, progressing through the college to vice principal and then serving as interim principal since May 2023.
Over the course of his career, Reynolds has had a key role in developing T-levels with the Department for Education, also leading the introduction of them to Cirencester College; alongside the reformation of the Level 2 system, which won a National Award for Curriculum Innovation at the Sixth Form College Association awards in 2022.
Reynolds said of his appointment: 'It is a great honour to be the new principal of Cirencester College. I have over 30 years’ experience in education and have spent the last 18 of those at Cirencester College, working from teacher to course leader, department head to faculty head and then vice principal, which on reflection feels like a good apprenticeship for our future.
'My strategic focus is on building the future-ready curriculum, technological integration, expanding strong industry partnerships, innovating student centred positive reforms, and encouraging sector research that leads to genuine positive outcomes for our learners. We are exceptional as a college family. I’m very proud to be a part of it and thrilled to be leading us at such an exciting time for education.'
