Owner of the Imperial Haus cocktail bar in Cheltenham, Sophie Wilding, has made it through her fifth week on BBC One’s The Apprentice, reaching the halfway point in the series – despite being brought back into the boardroom twice.

Although her team lost the fifth task, ending up at the Cabana Café after failing to secure investment in ‘Artic Saviour’ – the computer game they created with a howling typo in its name – it was Wordworth’s own descendant, Francesca Kennedy Wallbank, who got the boot.

This means Wilding will be back for the next challenge, when the remaining candidates are sent away to try their hand at running tours for staycationers, since the market for them surged due to Covid travel restrictions.

With Imperial Haus having recently announced expansion plans for its premises on Cheltenham’s Imperial Square, there has been speculation that Wilding might actually go on to win the series, believed to have been filmed in summer 2021.

Viewers can see how Wilding does in the next task on The Apprentice when it airs on BBC One on Thursday 10 February 2022 at 9pm.
