Highways England is considering feedback from the public on its A417 Missing Link proposal, after the consultation period closed on Thursday 12 November 2020.
The latest consultation called for feedback on changes that were made to the proposal, following the 2019 consultation. After reviewing the new feedback, Highways England will submit a development consent order application in 2021.
The proposal aims to improve the A417 and A419 between Gloucester, Cheltenham and Swindon, by turning the three-mile stretch between Brockworth bypass and Cowley roundabout into a dual carriageway.
The latest changes to the proposal promise to enhance accessibility and connectivity for the community, as well as reducing the impact on the local environment and landscape.
Members of the public have submitted specific feedback on improvements for cyclists, horse riders, pedestrians and disabled road users; new crossings at Cotwsold Way and Gloucestershire Way; the change in gradient of the A417 on Crickley Hill; rerouting the B4070; the design of the Cowley junction; and the replacement of green spaces.
