A multi-million pound investment by the Cheltenham-based owners of The Hollies specialist dementia care centre, has created 60 new jobs and doubled the size of the care home in Dursley.
The Hollies Care Centre secured a £4.1 million funding package from NatWest and Lombard to build and fit-out its new home, Holly Oak, on its existing four-acre Drake Lane site near the Stroud district market town.
The project has taken 18 months to complete and has created 45 en-suite bedrooms and what are described as luxury one and two-bedroom apartments for independent and semi-independent care.
Managing director at The Hollies, Jonathan Hawkins, said: ‘We are the largest employer in the area and with this expansion we can grow our fantastic team who keep our residents safe, entertained and stimulated every day.’
The centre now employs 160 staff, having created new roles for nurses and carers, and residents have already begun moving into the new building.
During the pandemic The Hollies put in place rigorous health and safety procedures to protect residents and staff and created a visitor pod in the grounds to allow family and friends to continue visiting safely.
