SoGlos's new location tags let readers quickly find local stories than matter to them most.

SoGlos is making it easier for our ever-growing audience to find and follow the local stories that matter most to them, with the introduction of new location tags across the online magazine.

Unveiled on Wednesday 16 October 2024, the new location tags can be found at the bottom of all articles and span the six districts of Gloucestershire, including:

Expanding this elegant new functionality further, we have also introduced location tags for towns, villages and prominent wards across Gloucestershire, selected based on both population and frequency of editorial coverage on SoGlos in recent years, with 39 of these new area tags also introduced, so far, including:

While covering content in the county of Gloucestershire is SoGlos's primary focus, when relevant to our readers, we also cover particularly interesting and timely stories in nearby surrounding counties including Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Somerset, with the Beyond the Border tag neatly grouping these articles together.

Created with SoCMS's unique tagging engine, the location tags expand the rich database of tags which also include SoGlos's sections, as well as dedicated tags for businesses and individuals featured in SoGlos content.

Retrospectively encompassing many thousands of relevant articles published by SoGlos's journalists over the past 17 years, the new location tags will also be added to new articles written and published by SoGlos's journalists in the future, with location tag feeds growing exponentially — as another example of how the development of its technology is helping the independent media company make progress towards its mission to revolutionise regional media.
