Taking place this summer in the beautiful surroundings of Cheltenham College Chapel, concertgoers will have the opportunity to see a line-up of internationally renowned soloists and a professional orchestra perform the Bach Mass in B Minor performed by Cheltenham College Schola Cantorum.
From 7.30pm on Sunday 12 June 2022, visitors to the chapel will enjoy a stellar collection of musicians – all with strong links to Gloucestershire and Cotswolds – performing the pinnacle of Bach’s choral output.
The programme includes Hannah Davey and Heather Wardle as soprano soloists, Hugh Cutting, Alto, James Gilchrist, tenor and Quentin Hayes, bass.
The evening is set to encapsulate everything that Bach achieved in his choral and orchestral writing throughout his lifetime, employing work from musical drafts dating back to 1724 as well as reworked sections from his Cantatas. The triumph, mourning, pathos and humanity of the mass text is conveyed in the emotion and skill of Bach’s writing.
