One of this year’s biggest shows in Cheltenham, The Full Monty will have local ladies hot and bothered at the Everyman Theatre this September.

Starring in the saucy show, Hollyoaks star Gary Lucy talks to SoGlos about the Hot Stuff audiences can expect, and how he feels about that famous finale.

How are preparations for The Full Monty going so far?

We start rehearsals on Monday 13 August 2018 in London and open in Cheltenham on Thursday 6 September 2018. I’m filming Hollyoaks just now.

What’s it like to be part of such an iconic show?

An absolute privilege. They are big shoes to fill…. Robert Carlisle played the part of Gaz in the film.

Playing to sell out houses up and down the country is incredible. It’s a great experience with theatre goers on a Monday night and hen parties at the weekends and they’re all such great audiences.

Have you seen previous tours of The Full Monty on stage?

I’ve been in them!

What are you most enjoying about being part of the show?

Getting to perform in such a fabulous show. The crowds are so welcoming and out to have a good time. Seeing everyone leave with a smile on their face at the end of the night is great. It’s two hours of pure entertainment where you can leave all your problems behind…

Do you have a favourite song in the show?

I just love the finale …. But to be honest they are all great. They are such iconic songs.

What do you enjoy about live shows, rather than television?

The risk… the potential for things to go wrong which hopefully they don’t! And the buzz of audience and the feedback – there’s nothing quite like it.

Being able to tell a story and the audience to go on the journey with you.

And finally, what’s it really like to bare all on stage?

I love it. I feel at home…. I think I was born to do it!

And who wouldn’t love getting their bits and pieces out… It’s exhilarating! (laughs)
