Featuring everything from award-winning salons and tempting new restaurants to Jeremy Clarkson's first Cotswolds pub, Gloucestershire is bursting with exciting new openings, popping up across the county each month.

Just in case you missed some of the hottest new spots, SoGlos rounds up eight of the most exciting Gloucestershire openings in August 2024...

The Farmer's Dog, near Burford

Having bought the former Windmill pub near Burford, marmite-star Jeremy Clarkson has revamped the prominently positioned pub which offers magnificent views across the Windrush Valley — updating not only the interiors, but with the adage of a new name: The Farmer's Dog.

Images previewing the opening on social media show the glass-covered bar that showcases grains, lined with taps of his Hawkstone beers and ciders. It's also stocked with English wines and British fruit juices and fizzy drinks. The pub is not taking reservations at the moment, with availability on a first come, first served basis.

Circo Brasserie in Cheltenham

After a three-year wait, JM Socials' 10th restaurant, Circo Brasserie on Bath Road in Cheltenham, is finally open — serving up 'European and Italian favourites'.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, diners can expect dishes such as prawn, crab and tomato linguine; BBQ cauliflower and couscous; beefburgers and steaks cooked over Binchotan charcoal on a Konro grill; sourdough pizza; and pistachio cannoli for dessert; with a dedicated kids menu and some vegan options, too.

Cattivo in Cirencester

Pizza lovers in the Cotswolds can try out the hottest new joint this August 2024, as the team behind Roots + Seeds Kitchen Garden open a new pizzeria at The Old Kennels in Cirencester

The Cattivo menu is small but specialist, offering six classic Neapolitan-style 12 inch pizzas cooked in a state-of-the-art Gozney wood-fired oven using kiln-dried oak from the Bathurst Estate

The Field Kitchen in Lower Slaughter, near Bourton-on-the-Water

A delicious new addition has arrived in the gardens of The Slaughters Country Inn, with a stylish new outdoor food cart, The Field Kitchen, now open and serving stone-baked flatbreads, toasted bagels, refreshing ice cream and chilled drinks to enjoy in the inn’s gorgeous gardens.

Located in the centre of Lower Slaughter, near Bourton-on-the-Water, it's open from midday to 6pm every day.

The Swamp in Cheltenham

Now open at Lansdown Industrial Estate, taking over DEYA's former mixed fermentation taproom (and original Brewery), The Swamp provides revellers with a lineup of delicious DEYA beers, fresh FOUR CATS cocktails and natural wines, along with a brand-new kitchen providing tempting plates to accompany the drinks.

A cosy alternative to the main taprooms for a drink, a bite to eat and intimate service, the new venue offers walk-ins and reservations from 4pm until midnight on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Sweeney Tom in Gloucester

Well known across Gloucestershire for offering a 'revolutionary transition between precision barbering and contemporary hairdressing', Sweeney Tom has opened doors to a brand-new premises in Gloucester this August 2024

Boasting a stylish and modern interior with the promise to bring clients 'top-notch haircuts, sharp styles, and good vibes every day', the business has gone from strength to strength since launching, from cutting the hair of stars like singer Jake Quickenden and Love Island's Chris Hughes to winning awards for being the best in Gloucestershire, then the south west, and even claiming the gong for the best in the whole country in the England Business Awards back in 2021.

Charles Tyrwhitt in Cheltenham

British multi-channel clothing retailer, Charles Tyrwhitt, has opened its latest store on Cheltenham’s popular Promenade, in what was formerly Superdry and White Stuff.

Founded in 1986, its flagship is a stalwart on London’s famous Jermyn Street, with stores across the UK, USA and even Paris — and now Gloucestershire shoppers are now able to browse a premium range of expertly tailored dress shirts, ties, suits, casualwear, shoes and accessories 'with timeless style and no compromise on quality'.

American Golf in Gloucester

Fairway fans rejoice! American Golf, the UK’s leading golf retailer, has unveiled a new 3,000 sq ft concession in GO Outdoors Gloucester.

In partnership with the UK’s largest outdoor retailer, GO Outdoors, the new opening promises to deliver the ultimate one-stop destination for golfersAlong with an extended range of American Golf’s top brands, including TaylorMade, Callaway, PING, Cobra, Benross, Garmin, Adidas, Stromberg and UnderArmour, the concession has a dedicated American Golf team on hand.
