Mr Souvlaki at Stroud's Five Valleys

Get ready for an explosion of Mediterranean flavours! Bringing a taste of Greece to StroudMr Souvlaki has opened its second Gloucestershire venue at Five Valleys Shopping Centre.

Describing Mr Souvlaki's food as authentic but not old-fashioned, the menu features Greek classics such as gyros, halloumi fries, Greek salad and the eponymous souvlaki, made using genuine Greek ingredients from recipes passed down by his mother and father.

The Long Table in Cirencester

Gloucestershire community kitchen, The Long Table — along with other Stroud community projects — has secured a new home inside the old House of Fraser building, to continue its mission of making good food accessible to everyone.

To those in need of a good meal and some good company, The Long Table's soft opening days consist of weekly lunch services on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with dinner services on Saturdays.

The Chapel in Cheltenham

The owner of Cheltenham's Home & Botanic nightclub, Epic Bars and Clubs, has snapped up the former Revolution bar on Clarence Parade — reopening the iconic nightlife spot as The Chapel, less than two weeks after Revs closed its doors in November.

The bar reopened under its new name, The Chapel, on Friday 15 November 2024, and while the national bar and nightclub operator is currently finalising its plans for refurbishment, revellers can expect the same leading entertainment, quality drinks and stunning, themed environments as in Home & Botanic and its Gloucester venue, Trilogy.

Breakfast club at Dunkertons in Cheltenham

Dunkertons Park launched a new breakfast club this November 2024; aimed at early risers and remote workers looking for a relaxed and productive place to knuckle down, the stylish lifestyle park on the edge of Cheltenham is now opening its doors first thing in the morning.

Visitors can tuck into a selection of new breakfast dishes from four of Dunkertons' food vendors including D'arcy's Creperie, Kanto, Bombay Street Food Co and La Boulangerie Artisan between 8.30am and 11am.

Juliet Restaurant in Stroud

Dan Chadwick, who also owns the historic Woolpack Inn in Slad, has opened the doors to a brand new restaurant, based at Stroud’s iconic former Old Music Centre.

The new eatery, Juliet, — named after Dan's wife — offers a continental vibe similar to bistros you might expect in Vienna, Paris, Italy, or even in Eastern Europe, along with a delicious menu featuring oysters mignonette and cantabrian anchovies to beef tartare and puntarelle alla romana. 

Cheltenham Animal Shelter in Cheltenham

Following a great response to its pop-up shop in Cavdendish House back in July 2024, Cheltenham Animal Shelter has decided to make its town centre presence more permnanent in a new premises, located on Cheltenham's Winchcombe Street. 

Providing space for more stock than ever before, the charity sells a range of quality men and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories, homewares, books and games — with all proceeds helping the homeless pets at the shelter.

Pret at Gloucester Quays

Gloucester's first Pret a Manger opened at Gloucester Quays this month.

The new venue has enough room to seat 85 in its 1,841 sq ft unit on High Orchard Street and serves up sandwiches, wraps and salads handmade in its on-site kitchen, as well as baked treats, snacks and drinks, including barista coffee.

Skate park and pump track in Bishop's Cleeve

Goods news for skaters! After years in the planning, Bishop's Cleeve's new skate park and pump track has finally opened, this November 2024, in the parish sports field on Cheltenham Road.

Designed and built by Maverick Skateparks — a skater-run design company which specialises in spray concrete skate parks — alongside cycle specialists, Velosolutions, work began on the state-of-the-art park and pump track back in June, with construction taking five months.
