Featuring everything from award-winning artisan bakeries and health-conscious cafes to cult burger joints, Gloucestershire is bursting with exciting new openings – with SoGlos rounding up seven of the most exciting new openings from April 2025.
Rainbowls in Cheltenham
Following successful openings in Gloucestershire, Bristol and Worcester, Rainbowls opened its second Cheltenham location in April 2025, offering a variety of healthy food options from smoothie bowls to superfood lattes.
Replacing its sister brand, Loaf & Co, in Montpellier, diners can enjoy smoothie bowls topped with granola, coconut flakes, chia seeds and fresh fruit; a variety of wellness drinks including juices and shots; fresh coffee and healthy cakes; as well as seasonal specials at its newest venue.
Flapjackery in Stow-on-the-Wold
Opening its 14th store in the south west, Devon-based artisan bakery Flapjackery opened its first Gloucestershire location in April 2025, offering a range of handmade flapjacks.
Its new Stow-on-the-Wold store offers tasty twists on the classic oaty treat, including clotted cream fudge, vegan peanut butter and raspberry jam, cherry bakewell, salted caramel brownie, lemon drizzle and raspberry and white chocolate — with all options suitable for anyone following a gluten-free diet.
M&S in Cheltenham
Cheltenham’s hotly anticipated new M&S at Centrum Retail Park officially opened to shoppers this April 2025, with the brand's iconic mascot Percy Pig even putting in an appearance at the opening!
Shoppers can find displays packed with fresh produce, sourced from M&S 'Select Farm' partners; an in-store bakery with an assortment of bread and pastries made fresh throughout the day; takeaway coffee; and a variety of cheeses from the cheese barge.
Roots + Seeds in Gloucester
Bringing a slice of the Cotswolds to the city, Roots + Seeds Kitchen Garden expanded its stable in April, with the foodie hub opening the doors to its newest venue at Gloucester Food Dock.
Offering regularly changing menus, the new restaurant — from the team behind The Scenic Supper — serves up coffee and cake, breakfast, brunch, sandwiches and salads, as well as more substantial dishes such as burgers and fresh pasta, all made with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.
Casa Romana at Stroud's Five Valleys Shopping Centre
Saying 'bună' to Stroud, Casa Romana has taken over the former Non Solo Pasta unit at the Five Valleys Food Hall, bringing a fusion of Romanian and Italian food to the town.
Having built up a following at local pop-ups and markets, owners Irina and Bogdan Iordsan-Stanescu offer dishes from the couple's home country, like Romanian sarmale — cabbage rolls filled with meat and rice — featuring on the menu, alongside traditional rustic mezze, salamis, polenta and more.
Jai Ho at Dunkertons in Cheltenham
Following a successful launch in Bishop's Cleeve back in January, Jai Ho — the latest offering from restaurant group JM Socials — has opened another new venue, this time at Dunkertons Park in Charlton Kings.
Packing a flavoursome punch, menu items include chat 'bombs', poppadoms with chutney, butter masala chicken bites, masala barbecue butter prawns, chicken naanwiches, lamb rogan josh as well as tandoori spiced chickpea and potato salad.
