From crafting berry baskets to stained glass workshops, Kingshill House in Dursley is offering a selection of activities to try out during its summer school programme – running from Monday 11 to Friday 15 July 2022.

1. Floral crown workshops at Kingshill House

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to create your own flower crown with fresh and seasonal blooms, then the Floral Summer Crowns workshop at Kingshill House is for you. As well as being relaxing, the workshop will provide those attending with the skills and techniques to create their very own beautfiful designs, ideal for summer weddings and parties, or just for fun!

The Floral Summer Crowns workshop takes place on Monday 11 July 2022 from 10.30am to 12.30pm and costs £28 per person.

2. Stained glass workshops at Kingshill House

From seagulls and boats to fish and lighthouses, make your own seaside-themed suncatcher with the Introduction to Stained Glass – A Seaside Sun Catcher workshop at Kingshill House.

Suitable for beginners and those who are more experienced, the workshop takes place on Monday 11 July 2022 from 10am to 4pm and costs £85.50 per person, including all materials and a lovely suncatcher to take home.

3. Screen printing workshops at Kingshill House

Tailored to suit all abilities, a one-day course in screen printing gives those attending the chance to learn the simple – but effective – technique, producing varied prints from one stencil.

Screen Printing with Paper Cut Stencils takes place on Monday 11 July 2022 and costs £42, with all materials included for participants to create their own t-shirt and bag designs to take home.

4. Basket weaving workshops at Kingshill House

Fruit picking season is officially here – and what better way to celebrate than by crafting your very own rustic gathering basket! Kingshill House is hosting an introductory course in basketry, offering participants the chance to create and take home a lovely frame style berry basket.

The Rustic Willow Berry Basket course takes place on Tuesday 12 July 2022 from 10am to 4pm and costs £65 per person. The cost of the workshop includes all materials, plus refreshments and a light lunch.

5. Loom weaving workshops at Kingshill House

Take time to reflect and relax as you learn the ancient craft of weaving at Kingshill House. Along with its meditative qualities, crafters will learn techniques to create beautiful decorative items for their home.

The Meditative Loom Weaving class takes place on Wednesday 13 July 2022 from 1pm to 3pm, costing £62 per person. The cost of the class will cover all materials, including fibres and wools such as soft string, merino and alpaca wool and strips of fabric.

6. Ceramics workshops at Kingshill House

From jewellery and trinket holders to dishes for serving nibbles, participants of the Nature in Ceramics course at Kingshill House will learn how to make their own nature-themed ceramic pieces using locally grown and foraged plants imprinted into clay.

The Nature in Ceramics course takes place on Thursday 14 July 2022 from 1pm until 3.30pm, costing £68 per person. There will be plenty of plants for participants to choose from, but visitors are welcome to bring along any homegrown or responsibly foraged greenery, too.

7. Gong immersion workshops at Kingshill House

Prepare to be totally relaxed with a gong immersion session at Kingshill House – starting with yoga breathing practices, followed by gentle asanas and stretches, all accompanied by the meditative sounds of the gong.

Gong Immersion takes place on Thursday 14 July 2022 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm and costs £8 per person. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes, to bring a blanket or yoga mat to lie down on and anything to make themselves comfortable.

8. Cyanotype workshops at Kingshill House

Discover the art of cyanotype – the slow-reacting and economical photograph printing technique which was one of the earliest photographic processes. During this one-day course, budding photographers will create eco-friendly botanical prints using the sun or a UV light source.

The Botanical Cyanotype Workshop takes place on Thursday 14 July 2022 from 1pm until 4pm and costs £42 per person – covering the cost of all materials.

9. Woodcut workshops at Kingshill House

Covering everything from image design to practical skills, participants can produce their very own woodcut stamp and print gorgeous designs to take home at this one-day workshop.

The Introduction to Woodcut workshop takes place on Friday 15 July 2022 from 10am to 4pm and costs £58 per person, including the cost of all materials, as well as refreshments and a light lunch.
