Founded by late British gardening icon, Rosemary Verey, Barnsley Village Festival is returning for its 35th year of outdoor celebrations on Saturday 17 May 2025.
Taking place at various venues around the gorgeous village of Barnsley, near Cirencester, the festival celebrates all that Gloucestershire gardens have to offer − all whilst raising money for local charities and bringing the local community together.
Usually only open to hotel guests, the stunning gardens of THE PIG Hotel are open to all on the festival day. Built of Cotswold stone, the hotel features a stunning four-acre garden area, set among tall and beautiful trees that lead onto the glorious fields for visitors to tour.
Also open to all throughout the day are the wondrous gardens of Barnsley Park, with its 18th-century orangery; as well as Dower House; Musgrave Arboretum and many more.
There's a variety of exciting activities for children available to take part in across the day − including face painting − and families can browse a selection of food stalls for refreshments before perusing the craft wares, with plants and ceramics for sale.
And don't miss the programme of entertainment on offer, such as bell-ringing; Morris dancers; an owl display; a local artist exhibition; and live music from the Splash of Red Choir and Oxford's internationally acclaimed a cappella group, Out of the Blue.
Then enjoy tea and cake from the Village Hall Cafe or a cold beverage in the licensed beer garden in The Village Pub, before taking a look at the range of stunning classic cars and impressive vintage tractors on display throughout the day.
Garden passports provide access to all the gardens and are priced at £10 when bought via Eventbrite in advance or at £13 on the day with parking included.
Kids go free and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
