A new exhibition exploring wearable art and the meanings and messages behind it is coming to New Brewery Arts in Cirencester.
Taking place from Saturday 15 April until Saturday 17 June 2023, Meanings and Messages is a touring exhibition by the Association for Contemporary Jewellery and features brooches from 60 different artists responding to a variety of themes.
From overt protests to subtle symbols, brooches have long been used by people in the public eye to send important messages, with pieces in the exhibition representing everything from climate change, pollution and the pandemic, to personal tributes to loved ones and heroes.
Made using materials from precious stones and metals to found objects like gramophone needles, bullet cartridges and even citrus peel, the natural world also plays a prominent role in many artists' work, capturing the wonder of the world around us and reminding visitors of the impact people have on our planet.
Curated into six different themes, the thought-provoking exhibition is designed to create conversation and asks viewers to reflect on the subjects they've seen.
New Brewery Arts and the Meanings and Messages exhibition are both free to visit.
