Experience a wonderfully wild February half term at Slimbridge Wetland Centre, taking a peek at the reserve's incredible birdlife during The Big Hideout.

From Saturday 11 to Sunday 26 February 2023, nature-loving families will have the opportunity to join Slimbridge's expert birdwatchers in the hides and discover why winter is one of the best times to observe the wetland wildlife.

Borrow some binoculars and start looking for feathered friends at the South Lake Discovery Hide, where volunteers will be on hand to help you find all 10 species on the bird spotter sheet.

Climb to the top of the Estuary Tower to see flocks of ducks, geese and swans feeding by the River Severn – with the chance to learn more about the birds and why the habitat is so important to them from 11am every weekday – and stop by Arctic Adventure to have a go at bird ringing and take part in the great migration game.

Plus, watch the Bewick's swans from the Peng Observatory, where you can warm up with a hot chocolate and create your own Bewick's bill pattern from 1.30pm each day, or catch the daily feed from 4pm.
