Learn all about the wildlife that calls Westonbirt Arboretum home this spring, with free family events and brand-new trails to discover.

With thousands of trees bursting into colourful bloom and new wildlife emerging across its 600 acres, spring is one of the best times of year to visit Westonbirt, The National Arboretum. Not least because there's a full programme of family activities to look forward to!

This year's spring family trail invites children to become biodiversity detectives, searching high and low for living things and learning all about the wildlife that calls Westonbirt home through engaging trail challenges.

Don't forget to download the iNaturalist app before you arrive to help you identify and record what you find — and contribute to real-life science!

Find the Biodiversity Detectives trail in Silk Wood, available until Saturday 31 May 2025.

Also in Silk Wood, join Wallace and Gromit for the ultimate forest walkies along a dog-focused trail, featuring challenges for families to complete with their four-legged friends.

While over in the Old Arboretum, set off on a woodland adventure with Julia Donaldson's popular storybook character, Stick Man, and get up close to nature on this interactive family trail.

Don't miss free family events like 'Wildlife Walks' from Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 April, teaching curious kids more about the natural world at this time of year; 'Awakening Woods', a drop-in quiz and crafts session that focuses on the new life emerging at Westonbirt, from Tuesday 15 to Thursday 17 April 2025.

Then on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 April 2025, Westonbirt is hosting a Bioblitz — a collaborative event where members of the public are invited to team up with experienced naturalists to find and identify as many different species as possible.
