Offering the chance to speak to an experienced foster carer and see if fostering could be right for you, Gloucestershire County Council Fostering is hosting a pop-up event at Gloucester Farmers' Market this March 2024.
Taking place from 9am to 3pm on Friday 22 March 2024, shoppers at the market who are interested in starting the journey to becoming a foster carer are invited to visit Gloucestershire County Council Fostering's information session to find out how they can help vulnerable children in the county.
More than 850 children of all ages are currently in care in Gloucestershire and finding local foster carers is essential to ensure that youngsters can stay at the schools of their choice and close to friends and family.
Fostering is open to those aged 21 and above, whether single or in a relationship; in employment – or not; homeowner or otherwise.
The pop-up information event provides a chance to learn about everything from the application process to payments, with a current foster carer on hand to answer any questions participants might have — so attendees can find out about the different kinds of fostering; what you need to be able to foster; as well as the support and training on offer, should you decide to pursue an application.
While participants are under no obligation to take the next steps until they are ready to, this session is an ideal opportunity to find out more about fostering with your local council.
