Shoppers at Gloucester Quays Winter Markets who are interested in starting the journey to becoming a foster carer are invited to visit Gloucestershire County Council Fostering’s latest in-person information session this November 2023 — to find out how they can help vulnerable children in the county.
Taking place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 November 2023 from 9am to 5pm, GCC Fostering will be at the event across the weekend, with Family Link taking centre stage on Saturday to talk to anyone interested in fostering.
Some 850 children of all ages are currently in care in Gloucestershire and finding local foster carers is essential in ensuring that youngsters can stay at the schools of their choice and close to friends and family.
To enlighten potential foster carers about the road ahead, the pop-up offers information covering various types of foster care, eligibility criteria, the process of becoming a foster carer, personal stories of fostering, as well as the support available and foster care pay.
There will also be some information to take away and read to help people decide the best way to go forward in their fostering journey.
Fostering is open to anyone over 21 regardless of race, religion or sexuality; whether single or in a relationship; in employment or otherwise; and whether they rent or own their home. So, if you are considering fostering in the future — or thinking of applying soon — this pop-up is for you.
