Young theatregoers will find themselves at the centre of a Roman invasion or taking on a medieval quest at Berkeley Castle, with interactive theatre experiences taking place on Sunday 21 August 2022.
Created by children’s theatre group Wild Geese Theatre, there will be two interactive plays staged at the castle on Children’s Theatre Day – giving little ones the chance to immerse themselves in Britain’s ancient history and become the stuff of legends through interactive activities.
Gallant spectators can join Sir Gawain on a treacherous journey, searching for the home of the legendary Green Knight – encountering colourful characters and swashbuckling sword fighting action along the way – during Wild Geese’s production of The Green Knight.
Next, Boudica tells the tale of the warrior queen who led a rebellion against Roman conquerors to fight for the freedom of her people.
Little warriors will find themselves at the heart of the action, with the story unfolding around them. Using interactive storytelling techniques to stage both sides of the conflict, children are encouraged to flex their empathy and reasoning skills as they ask themselves who they’re going to fight for.
Both shows are family-friendly and promise to captivate audiences of all ages, with the interactive material best suited to children aged five to 11-years-old.
Children’s Theatre Day performances are included in the cost of general admission to Berkeley Castle, which can be purchased via berkeley-castle.com.
