On Saturday 24 June 2023, Cheltenham Children’s Festival is back at Cheltenham Town Hall for a fun-filled day of free activities and performances.
Taking place from 10am to 3pm, this year’s theme is ‘togetherness’, which will be showcased through the events happening throughout the day, with three zones — ‘playing together’, ‘learning together’ and ‘growing together’ — designed to spark children’s imaginations and build confidence.
Highlights include interactive science stalls, dance and drama workshops, sign language lessons, sports and storytelling sessions.
Also part of the event is ‘The Town Centre Stage’ at the Brewery Quarter, where local groups such as Danceworks Studios, My Stage School, Cheltenham Children's Choir, Two Can Youth Theatre, Belmont School and Whizz Kids are showcasing energetic performances featuring dance, drama and music from 12pm to 3pm. There'll also be special appearances from a cheerleading squad, children's entertainer Damian Pickett and live music from teen band Refuge featuring Jess Abiona.
And to get everyone involved in the festival fun, Lakeside Primary School is leading a flash mob at 11.15am outside Marks & Spencer on the High Street, with a second performance happening at 11.45am in the Brewery Quarter — organisers are encouraging everyone to take part, whether you're attending the festival or not!
Please note, the first hour of the event, from 10am to 11am, will be ‘quiet hour’, to accommodate children with additional needs.
