What is the Bibury Duck Race?
Every year on Boxing Day, the picturesque Cotswold village of Bibury is transformed by hordes of spectators who peel themselves off the sofa and away from the Quality Street to watch thousands of yellow ducks float down the River Coln for two exciting races.
3,000 rubber ducks are released into the river which, as well as being a bit of festive fun, can raise thousands of pounds for local causes.
The event has been taking place for more than 35 years and continues to attract a global audience, with sponsors from as far away as Australia!
How do you sponsor a duck at Bibury Duck Race?
Proceeds from this year's race are supporting Bibury Cricket Club — and hopefuls can sponsor a duck for £2 each via the Bibury Duck Race Crowdfunder page.
The top 20 ducks to cross the finish line will earn a prize, with past prizes including a delicious dinner for four, a vineyard tour, bottles of Champagne and whiskey and even an oven-ready duck!
Committee member for Bibury Cricket Club, Jack Merrylees, said: 'The race is not only a great way to bring people together but also an opportunity to support a worthy cause.
'We invite everyone to join us for a day of festivities, laughter, and of course, to witness the thrilling duck race.'
