Families can expect living history experiences, have-a-go activities and action-packed displays at Berkeley Castle, with a full programme of summer holiday activities to keep young visitors entertained throughout the school holidays.
Kicking it all off on Sunday 28 July, there's falconry displays on the lower lawn. Marvel as the birds take flight and meet the medieval falconer to learn all about his impressive menagerie of birds of prey.
Kids can try archery every Monday from Monday 29 July to Monday 29 August — and even challenge their parents to see who can hit the bullseye!
Exploring the weird and wonderful world of historic medicine, the Tudor ZooLab is back every Wednesday from Wednesday 7 to Wednesday 28 August, with four workshops in the Beer Cellar each day.
Come face to face with Tudor royalty on Sunday 4 August, when King Henry VIII and Queen Anne Boleyn visit Berkeley Castle on their royal tour. Accompanied by a band of travelling minstrels, you can expect merrymaking and dancing in the Great Hall!
The following weekend on Sunday 11 August, the castle hosts a family magic day, combining education and entertainment to teach little ones all about environmental responsibility — with appearances from a singing octopus and surfing sloth puppet, no less!
Visitors on Sunday 18 August can find two dinosaurs roaming the castle grounds, with Yoshi and Diablo entertaining dino-lovers from the safety of their arena.
Then, bringing Berkeley's summer programme to an epic conclusion, the Knights of Nottingham return for a medieval jousting display on Sunday 25 and Monday 26 August 2024, packed with sword-swinging action at 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
