A tale of politics and power, Verdi’s Macbeth will be performed by the English Touring Opera in Cheltenham this spring.

Complete with a live orchestra, large chorus and plenty of theatrical drama, the English Touring Opera is bringing its tour of Macbeth to Gloucestershire this spring.

Giuseppe Verdi’s 1847 operatic adaption of the Shakespearean tragedy will be performed on Tuesday 20 April and Friday 3 May 2019 at the Everyman Theatre.

Starring Grant Doyle and Madeleine Pierard as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, the opera follows Macbeth’s ambition to become king of Scotland after receiving a prophecy from three witches.

Making it accessible to all, the Italian opera will be sung in English with English subtitles.
