Having been hailed as ‘raw, thrilling theatre’, The Gloucester Theatre Company’s enthralling production, Pacifists and Protesters, is set to delight audiences in Stroud, Cheltenham and Bristol this February 2018.
The stunning piece of theatre has been created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI, and features a production of a new play called A Dangerous Woman, followed by a presentation inspired by the words of poets, pacifists and other protesters.
A powerful drama, A Dangerous Woman tells the true story of suffragette and single mother Alice Wheeldon who sheltered conscription evaders before being imprisoned; a tale which explores how far the government would go to silence anyone who protested against the war.
Set to offer a powerful theatre experience complete with imaginative staging, music and exquisite choreography, Pacifists and Protesters will explore the largely forgotten elements of WWI, focusing on the people who opposed the war due to their beliefs that the issues could have been resolved through peaceful means.
Featuring an excellent cast of up-and-coming young actors and seasoned professionals, the entertaining and thought-provoking show is directed by The Gloucester Theatre Company’s artistic director, Alexander J Gifford, and is set to deliver a compelling performance across Gloucestershire and beyond.
