Join The Entertainer, as Shane Richie brings a classic role to life for Gloucestershire audiences, on its first ever UK tour.
Returning to Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre after sell-out performances in The Perfect Murder, Shane Richie takes on the role previously portrayed by Laurence Olivier in the movie version of The Entertainer.
Playing the has-been comic entertainer Archie Rice, Richie’s character plays to dwindling crowds as his son fights in the Falklands, and his daughter campaigns against the war – with devastating consequences.
The classic play, written by John Osborne was selected as one of the greatest plays of the 20th century by The Guardian’s chief theatre critic, and has been updated to be set in the 80s, for a more contemporary retelling of the famous tale, as it visits Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre from Monday 11 November 2019.
