Cheltenham Bach Choir takes to the stage at Cheltenham Town Hall on Saturday 16 December 2023, bringing musical favourites from the likes of composers Giovanni Gabrieli, John Rutter and Bob Chilcott.
The choir has an established reputation for being one of the best choral groups in the south west, performing at various venues including Tewkesbury Abbey, Cirencester Parish Church, Cheltenham Town Hall and Pittville Pump Room. The choir has appeared at Cheltenham International Music Festival and, every two years, performs with Göttingen Stadkantorei as part of Cheltenham's twinning with the town of Göttingen in Germany.
A varied selection of traditional Christmas carols will be sung by the magnificent 80-strong choir of auditioned singers, accompanied by the Blackweir Brass quintet — consisting of two trumpets, a trombone, tuba and horn — alongside pianist and organist Claire Alsop.
Highly-acclaimed professional soprano Hannah Davey will be accompanying the whole ensemble for the family performance at 4pm; while for the evening performance at 7pm, the Beauregard Youth Choir, made up of more than 30 singers from age nine to 18, will perform too.
Tickets for the family concert at 4pm, which includes soprano Hannah Davey, cost £12.50 for adults; while the evening concert at 7pm, which includes the Beauregard Youth Choir, costs £20 per adult. Children up to the age of 18 and students in full-time education are welcome to attend for free.
