A reimaging of Georges Bizet’s masterpiece, La Tragedie de Carmen promises captivating entertainment from exciting young company, Pop Up Opera.
The tragic tale will be brought to life at Stroud Subscription Rooms on Friday 5 October 2018, following the fatal relationships of four characters during a drama of unhinged love and jealousy.
Featuring memorable music and a familiar tale, La Tragedie de Carmen is a retelling by acclaimed British theatre director Peter Brook, with some reworking to the score by Marius Constant.
Audiences can expect a spellbinding journey through Bizet’s music, such as Carmen’s ‘Habanera’, Escamillo’s ‘Toreador Song’ and Don José’s ‘Flower Song’, together with powerful new passages, making for a compelling performance in Stroud.
