Gloucester Guildhall has a late festive treat in store for the county’s music lovers, as it presents The Jay Cee Big Band Christmas Concert live from Blackfriars Priory on Tuesday 22 December 2020.
The special concert will feature big band arrangements of everything from ‘Santa Claus is Coming To Town’ to a swinging ensemble entitled ‘Hark! Those Angels Swing’ for a unique start to the Christmas holidays.
The Jay Cee Big Band has been performing its unique versions of big band music for 60 years. With bandleader Paul Arthurs and baritone saxophonist Graham Ross teaming up to record Lockdown compositions and post their own livestreams most recently.
The concert will be streamed from the stunning 13th century Blackfriars Priory via Gloucester Guildhall’s website and Facebook page, with no need for a ticket. Instead, viewers are invited to make a donation to nominated charity Winston’s Wish, which helps to support bereaved children, young people and their families.
Jim Lockey, programmer at Gloucester Guildhall, said: ‘We are extremely excited to host this special concert from the beautiful Blackfriars Priory. We hope it goes some way to thank our customers for their incredible support during a very challenging year, bringing a little Christmas magic into their homes and raising some money for an extremely valuable cause.’
