Taking place as part of this summer’s Gloucester Rooftop Festival, Gloucester Guildhall has partnered up with London’s Roundhouse for a two-day celebration of the biggest and best in new music.
The Rising nights take place on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 July 2018, featuring a carefully-curated line-up of emerging artists, encompassing future festival headliners and performers from Gloucester and the Roundhouse Rising development program.
Friday will see headliner Suzi Wu take to the stage; having been described as a ‘cocktail of Ian Dury, Happy Mondays and Patti Smith’, Suzi brings together pop, performance, personal empowerment and self-education.
Joining Suzi will be Melbourne-based, genre-defying artist Ecca Vandal; Gloucester’s own alternative pop-rock heavyweights Polary; and Blackfish Collective, a multi-faceted creative group from Dublin.
On Saturday there’s the chance to see headliner Tawiah, performing alternative soul music that’s garnered admiration from artists including Mark Ronson, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Cee Lo Green.
Audiences can also enjoy music from Tiana Major9, who wows with her self-penned lyrics and alternative sound; Roundhouse Resident artist Loraine James; and University of Gloucestershire student and country singer Demi Marriner.
Keeping the party going, there will be late night DJ sets running until the early hours – perfect for local revellers!
