Gilbert and Sullivan's classic opera is sure to be a delight for Gloucestershire audiences in January 2025 when The Pirates of Penzance heads to Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre.

Witness a high-energy romp on the high seas when Gilbert and Sullivan's classic The Pirates of Penzance graces Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre stage in 2025.

Running from Tuesday 28 January to Saturday 1 February 2025 — directed by Donna Stirrup and conducted by Martin Handley — the witty show returns with a nearly 50-strong company of international singers and orchestra to do justice to Sullivan’s brilliant score.

Told with clarity, humour, humanity, love and commitment to Gilbert and Sullivan’s genius, the story follows Frederic who, after an unfortunate case of mishearing, is apprenticed to a pirate and falls head-over-heels in love with the daughter of major-general.

With plenty of twists and a host of ingenious characters, the classic opera is sure to be a delight for Gloucestershire audiences, featuring some of their most memorable melodies including ‘I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General’ and ‘A Policeman’s Lot is Not a Happy One’, and remains one of the most frequently played Gilbert and Sullivan operas.
