Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the international best-selling novel, critically-acclaimed stage show Birdsong returns to Everyman Theatre this autumn, offering a compelling story of love and courage.
Rachel Wagstaff’s stage adaptation of Sebastian Faulks’ world-famous novel will run in Cheltenham from Tuesday 22 to Saturday 26 October 2024, having been hailed as ‘moving, gripping, dramatically electrifying and outstanding’.
Set before and during the Great War, the mesmerising story follows young Englishman Stephen Wraysford, who begins a passionate and dangerous affair with Isabelle Azaire that turns their world upside down.
As the war breaks out over the idyll of his former life, Stephen must lead his men through carnage, clinging to the memory of Isabelle as the world explodes around him.
Produced by the award-winning Original Theatre, who brought you the smash hit productions of The Mirror Crack’d by Agatha Christie, Murder in the Dark and The Habit of Art, audiences can also expect award-winning actor Max Bowden, best known for the role of Ben Mitchell in EastEnders, as he stars in the hit show.
Sure to be a highlight on Everyman Theatre’s calendar, the captivating story sold out when it last came to Cheltenham.
