Run by Cheltenham Ladies’ College’s Archivist, WWI – A Chronicle of War Work offers an engaging exhibition, running at the Parabola Arts Centre as part of the Cheltenham Remembers project.
Visitors can see the exhibition between Monday 14 and Friday 25 May 2018 (excluding Sunday); documenting the contribution of Cheltenham Ladies’ College’s staff and pupils to the war effort, both on the home front and on the front line, WWI – A Chronicle of War Work promises to be a thoroughly interesting display.
The exhibition includes a recreated ward from St Martin’s VAD Hospital, which was set up by the college in the centre of Cheltenham and was dedicated to caring for wounded soldiers.
There’s also the chance to understand more about the repercussions of WWI; WWI – A Chronicle of War Work focuses on the lasting effects that the war had on female emancipation and the increased participation of women in the work place.
