Step into spring as Lydney Park opens its blooming beautiful spring gardens on Sunday 5 April until Sunday 14 June 2020.

Spanning eight acres on the edge of the Forest of Dean, the spring gardens are full of stunning colours thanks to perfect plantings of rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas. With three lakes to explore, the grounds are also home to all kinds of wildlife.

After discovering the gardens, visitors can feast on tasty homemade treats from the tea rooms, try afternoon tea in the formal dining room and surrounding gardens, or enjoy a picnic with family in the deer park.

What’s more, fans of Lord of the Rings can explore the Roman archaeological site that allegedly inspired Tolkien’s hobbit holes! The author was involved with a 1920s excavation dig where he discovered the ancient tunnels and open cast iron mines that still run through the Roman hill fort to this day.
