Showcasing an inspiring display by members of the Goldwork Guild, visitors to Gloucester’s Nature in Art are encouraged to experience the 'Disappearing Woodlands, Disappearing Skills' exhibition this spring, featuring varied techniques of hand and goldwork embroidery.
Running from Tuesday 8 to Sunday 27 April 2025, those visiting the Georgian museum and art gallery will see a display aiming to revive these endangered art forms to portray the intricacies of woodland nature, incorporating the historic, traditional and modern interpretations of two and three-dimensional hand embroidery, whilst embracing the use of modern textiles and textures.
These together with the use of meticulously reproduced historical materials and techniques that have now been in decline for decades will showcase the artform.
Plus, in the gallery, you will be able to chat with members of the Guild every day as they demonstrate their work. And you can even purchase kits so you can make your own at home!
Nature in Art — the world’s first museum and art gallery dedicated to art inspired by nature — is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm every week.
