Nature in Art will the setting for an unusual exhibition this summer, when it plays host to original cartoons by the ‘unofficial artist of the British countryside’ and possibly the most popular cartoonist in Britain, Norman Thelwell.

Thelwell lived from 1923 to 2004 and had more than 1,500 cartoons published in the satirical magazine Punch during his career – and is best known for his illustrations of ponies and horses.

Entitled Laughter Lines, the Nature in Art exhibition will include a unique selection of works focusing on the artist’s love of nature and the countryside. The exhibition runs from Tuesday 30 July to Sunday 1 September 2019.
