Taking place on Thursday 30 January 2020, Grimson & the Barnsleys: The start of the arts and crafts movement event will include a talk from curator, writer and arts and crafts movement expert, Mary Greensted.
Dubbed as ‘the greatest of the English artist craftsmen’, Ernest Gimson along with the Barnsley brothers, moved to the Cotswolds in 1894, an area which at the time was not well known. This significant move made way for other artists and designers to settle in the Cotswolds in the 20th century.
The event also offers a great opportunity to explore the William Simmonds exhibition at Museum of Gloucester. The exhibition gives visitors the chance to discover everything from the circus to an enchanting woodland, by delving inside the imagination of Simmonds through his work.
