There’s a unique opportunity to explore the former HM Gloucester Prison on a free open day on Saturday 12 September 2020.
Being held as part of the nationwide Heritage Open Days, the city’s historic prison is described as one of the most haunted places in Gloucestershire and will be open between 11am and 5pm.
Now used as a ghost hunting venue and film location, the decommissioned Gloucester Prison dates back to 1791 and is steeped in gruesome history, it is also one of the city’s most interesting buildings.
There will be no tours given, with visitors simply allowed to wander around and explore the prison.
No tickets or booking is required, although visitors are reminded to maintain social distancing and wear a face mask.
Gloucester’s Heritage Open Days form part of Gloucester History Festival.
