Visit Slimbridge Wetland Centre after hours for the rare chance to see its hundreds of Bewick’s swans on the illuminated evening lake.
Taking place on selected dates throughout January and February 2025, Slimbridge’s ever-popular Evening with the Swans gives visitors the chance to gaze out across the wetland from the heated Peng Observatory, watching majestic swans, geese and ducks glide across the floodlit lake.
The evening begins with Buck's fizz and canapes in the Swan Cafe, before joining Slimbridge's expert wardens at the observatory as they share the details of the birds’ incredible journey back to Gloucestershire each winter, from destinations as far away as arctic Russia.
After seeing the swans feed, guests will make their way to Slimbridge’s Kingfisher Kitchen for a delicious two-course meal — with dishes including parma ham-wrapped chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and basil, cod in a tomato, caper and white wine sauce, or spiced aubergine and red lentil filo parcel, with winter fruit crumble and vegan salted caramel brownie for dessert.
Tickets must be booked online in advance via wwt.org.uk/slimbridge/evening-with-the-swans.
