Lions at Large — The Pride of Gloucestershire Trail is roaring onto the streets of Cheltenham and Gloucester this summer 2025.
More than 30 large lion sculptures and 52 adorable little cubs will pop up across the town and city for three months in the colourful and creative free trail that starts on Friday 11 July 2025.
Each lion sculpture is unique with designs from local and national artists to celebrate Gloucestershire’s rich history, culture and diversity.
While cute cubs are getting a splash of colour from schools and community groups.
They'll all be on display in Cheltenham town centre and Gloucester city centre, as well as in parks and open spaces at a mix of stunning landmarks and interesting everyday locations, until Sunday 14 September 2025.
Families will be able to follow the trail of the pride of lions discovering the variety of vibrant colours and surprising designs along the way.
Sponsored by a host of Gloucestershire businesses, the lions are helping to raise funds for new cancer care facilities in Cheltenham with digital consulting rooms, state-of-the-art research facilities, as well as a therapeutic outside space.
Once the trail is over the large lions will be auctioned to further support Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity’s The Big Space Cancer Appeal and the little Lions will return to the school and community groups which created them.
Cheltenham BID chief executive, Francesca Inman, said: 'These stunning art sculptures will breathe new life and energy into our town centre.
'They're more than just art; they're catalysts for exploration, igniting curiosity in both visitors and residents to discover the gems of the town.'
