On Tuesday 7 September 2021, writer and lecturer of literature, stained glass, art and architecture, Adrian Barlow, will be hosting an online talk on the famous painting of Gustavus and Theodor von Holst from the Holst Victorian House.
The virtual discussion on the famous painting, which hangs in the Regency room at the Holst Victorian House, is headed by speaker Adrian Barlow – who is also currently Chair of the Friends of The Wilson.
His talk will detail the portrait and its ambiguities and reflect on Theodor’s reputation as a rising young artist whose work caught the eye of John Rushout, 2nd Baron Northwick – who was responsible for bringing Theodor’s paintings to Cheltenham where they were exhibited at his celebrated gallery in Thirlestaine House.
Taking place online via Zoom, Gloucestershire art lovers won’t want to miss this deep dive into the famous double portrait.
Standard tickets for the virtual event cost £6, with an optional donation for additional viewers on the same device.
